Our purpose is to keep the memories alive for our readers so that our visitors will understand better the politics that play such an important role in the lives of Wyomingites. Phil Roberts, Lawyer, Historian, Journalist, Retired Professor, Concerned Citizen. Phil is a Wyoming native having lived in a number of communities — Lusk, Torrington, Worland, Thermopolis, Cody, Powell, Cheyenne and Laramie. He taught 28 years in the Department of History, University of Wyoming. He holds the Ph.D. in history from the University of Washington, J.D. from the University of Wyoming School of Law, and the B.A in history from the University of Wyoming. He studied for the M.A. in history at the University of Arizona, He worked as a state historian for the Wyoming State Archivers, Museum and Historical Department, travelling the state. He created a historical publication Buffalo Bones. Phil also practiced law in Wyoming before teaching history at the University of Wyoming. He also ran for governor in the 1998 Wyoming election. With his brothers, he published the Wyoming Almanac and created a related website <wyomingalmanac.com>. Phil also worked as a journalist in the U.S. Marine Corps, San Diego, managed the Lake Powell Chronicle newspaper in Page, Arizona and with the Medicine Bow Post, Wyoming. With Peggy he produced the Capitol Times, a monthly magazine in Cheyenne. Phil retired from the University of Wyoming in 2018. Phil has been active in local Wyoming politics since 1967.
Peggy Bieber-Roberts, Webmaster, Journalist, Multimedia, Video, Reitred Professor, Concerned Citizen. Peggy grew up in South Dakota on a farm and in a small town. She graduated from Northern State University, Aberdeen, South Dakota, and was immediately accepted into the U.S. Peace Corps. Training was at Occidental College, Pasadena, California. She served two years in Turkey, teaching English as a Foreign Language to middle school Turkish students. She worked in all aspect of journalism for community newspapers in South Dakota, Arizona and Wyoming. She was a reporter at the Wyoming State Legislature and established with Phil a city magazine in Cheyenne the Capitol Times. Peggy holds the Ph.D. in the School of Communications from the University of Washington, Seattle; an LLM International and Human Rights Law degree in the Edinburgh Law School from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland; M.A. degree in Journalism and Telecommunications from the University of Wyoming, Laramie, Wyoming; a B.S. degree in Art, Education, Business from Northern State University, Aberdeen, South Dakota. She worked as a public opinion analyst with Elway Research, Seattle, Washington, serving as project manager, conducting surveys and focus groups, and writing reports. Peggy taught classes and chaired journalism departments at the American University in Cairo, Egypt and American University of Sharjah, UAE. She also taught at Dubai Women’s College of the Higher Colleges of Technology.
